Linfield hold no fear for Ards after great start, insists McComb

By Graham Luney

Ards winger Carl McComb says his side can keep silencing the critics and even spring a surprise against Linfield tomorrow.

Niall Currie's newly promoted side can leapfrog the Blues in the Danske Bank Premiership table if they taste victory at Windsor Park.

"I think we have surprised a lot of people but there is a really good atmosphere at the club and the boys are enjoying their football," said the former Glentoran starlet.

"The aim is to consolidate our position in the top flight and, after playing most of the teams in the Premiership, we have shown that we can be competitive and have drawn confidence from that.

"The good start has injected belief and confidence into the squad and we feel this is where we belong.

"Games don't come tougher than against Linfield, but we had a good win against Knockbreda in midweek and we have played some top sides such as Crusaders, Glenavon, Glentoran and Ballymena United.

"It's important we aren't overawed by the challenge."
