Lisburn Distillery made of Wright stuff

Not for the first time this season, Lisburn Distillery have to show their resilient streak.

A 4-0 defeat at home to Linfield would dent confidence in most teams but Tommy Wright’s men are made of sterner stuff this season.

From the moment they bounced back off the ropes when Glentoran rocked them with a knockout blow on the opening day of the season, the Ballyskeagh boys have shown their backbone.

Up next is a tricky trip to Glenavon but expect a Lisburn Distillery side to rise to the occasion — weather permitting of course!

“The players have gone into games in a positive frame of mind and the team ethic has been great,” said Wright.

“I think from Glenn Ferguson up top to Philip Matthews in goal, the team has been stronger mentally this season and we have been able to bounce back after defeats.

“In previous seasons we might have struggled to show that response but the obvious example was at the beginning of the season when Glentoran taught us a lesson and hammered us 6-1.

“We could have crumbled after that and in the past we would have been in danger of doing just that but we responded by beating Crusaders and it was important to get up and running after suffering such an early setback.

“In this league you cannot afford to get too down after suffering a setback. Attitude is so important and the players this season have responded when they needed to.”
