Ballymena & Provincial Football League round-up September 28

Desertmartin took the honours on Saturday reaching the semi-final of the North West Craig Memorial Cup, winning away at Strabane Athletic 4-3.

Desertmartin led 2-0 at the break, then went 4-1 in front, with all their goals scored by Robin Patton, before two late goals by the home team narrowed the gap.

Magherafelt Sky Blues had Limavady United as visitors, but trailed 4-1 at half time, then pulled a goal back only to see Limavady score two more.

On the league front Ballynure Old Boys and Newtowne had a very close game, with the winning goal being scored by Billy Doran for Newtowne on 75 minutes

FC Ballynure had Brantwood as visitors and went in a half time trailing by a goal scored by Fintan McCartney. Jordan Kernoghan made it 2-0 from the penalty spot. Ryan Caskey then scored for Ballynure before Fintan McCartney sealed the win for Brantwood with his second goal.

In Junior Division One, Ballyclare Com Reserves won 6-1 against Woodlands thanks to a hat-trick from Jamie McTaggart, Joel Cooper (2) and one from Aaron Lindsay, with Scott Cameron scoring for Woodlands.

Killymoon Rangers Reserves lost 3-0 against Tobermore United Reserves whose goals were scored by Kyle Bradley, Jack Taylor and Mervyn Hutchinson.

Antrim Rovers scored three against Magherafelt Sky Blue Res to collect the points while a brace of goals from Michael McGroggan saw Chimney Corner Reserves beat Desertmartin Swifts 2-1, with Ryan Brown scoring for Desertmartin.

In Junior Division Two, Ballysillan Swifts away to Ballynure Old Boys ‘B’ scored seven without reply with goals from William Swain (3), Dave Millar (2) and goals each for Scott McIntyre, Ally Reid and Craig Taylor.

Carniny Amateurs II took the lead against FC Ballynure Reserves with a goal scored by Dean Wright but two goals from Stewart McIlroy and Warren Simpson saw Ballynure claim the win.

Moyola Park Olympic beat FC Larne 4-2.

Remo FC went in front with a goal scored by James Brown against FC Whiteabbey but then went in 2-1 at half time. Two second half goals from Steven McGregor and James Brown then secured the win for Remo.
