Ballymena & Provincial League round-up, November 2
In the only game played in the Intermediate division, Rathcoole FC had Carniny Amateurs as visitors to the Diamond and ran out 6-0 winners through Paul Waite (3), Glen McCord, Adam Richmond and Ross Blair.
In the Junior One, two league games were scheduled to be played, but one was cancelled due to the wet weather. In the one played, Magherafelt Sky Blue Reserves travelled to Chimney Corner Res and won 2-1.
Cookstown RBL, with goals scored by Joel Wylie, Benny Gray, Ricky McMenemy and Louis Hampson, beat FC Ballynure Reserves to take over at the top of the Junior Two table. FC Whiteabbey were in goal scoring form, scoring seven against Carniny Amateurs II, who scored two. Sport & Leisure Reserves ran out 5-3 winners over 3rd Ballyclare Old Boys. Ballysillan Swifts and Moyola Park Olympic shared the points in a scoreless draw.
In the Junior Three division, of the three games scheduled, only one survived the wet weather, which saw Brantwood Reserves beat 1st Carrickfergus Old Boys with goals scored by Sam Morgan (3), Jordan Rainey (3), Wayne Porter and Steve Andrews. The Old Boys netted a consolation.
Forthriver FC, with a 6-3 win over 3rd Ballyclare Old Boys, take over at the top of the league table in the Junior Four division. Mallusk Athletic Reserves scored five against Carnlough Swifts with Gary Walker, Michael McCord, Declan Della Croce, Jason Stirling and Jamie Dodds scoring. AFC Carrick Reserves had a home win over Ballysillan Swifts Res thanks to goals scored by Lee Crockett, Michael Deignan, Ryan Clawson and Michael Rankin with Jon Breheney and Craig Beattie scoring for the Swifts. Monkstown and Glengormley United shared the points after scoring three goals each. Jim Crawford (2) and Ross Reid scored for Monkstown while Niall McErlean (2) and Simon Quirke scored for Glengormley.
Dunloy, who have been in good form recently, went in at two each against Ballynure in the Crawford Cup second round, but Ballynure controlled the game in the second half by scoring four without reply. The Ballynure goals were scored by Mark Leckey (2), Mark Curlette, Simon McGreevy, Josh McIlroy and Michael Duff.
Krag Albion had Mallusk Athletic as visitors to Beltoy Road, Carrickfergus in the Canada Trophy first round, and in a very close game, Krag won 2-1 thanks to goals scored by Jonny Robb and Matthew McDonagh with Paul Walker scoring for Mallusk
In the Canada Trophy second round, FC Larne had a good home win over Remo FC, but had to come from a goal down to win, with goals scored by Chris Dempsey and Andrew White. Ballyclare North End met Carnmoney FC, who had a few former North End players in their ranks. In the end, it was Carnmoney who won thanks to goals scored by Ricky Thompson and Darren Jordan to one scored by Ryan Davey for North End. In the Carrickfergus derby, Carrick Swifts met Castle Star with the Star controlling the game to win 6-2. Goalscorers for Castle were Ryan Smith (2), Warren Brown (2), Andy Hall and Aaron Hall with Dave Armstrong scoring two for the Swifts.
