Ballymena & Provincial League round-up October 5
Brantwood notched up their fourth win from four when beating Ballynure Old Boys 5-0, with goals scored by Ryan McAuley, Fintan McCartney, Chris Rafferty and Mark McCann (2). Dunloy kept up their winning ways beating Carniny 5-1 away, with goals scored by Karl Fitzpatrick (3) and Benny McGarry (2. Rathcoole FC, playing their first home game, secured a 5-0 win over FC Ballynure thanks to goals scored by Paul Waite (2), Gareth Bond, Mark Kidd and Glenn McCord.
In Junior One, Ballyclare Comrades Reserves went behind to a goal scored by Matty Hughes at Cookstown Olympic, but came back to score five through Adam Gray (2), Mark Wilkinson, Mark Conn, and Daniel Ellis. Desertmartin Swifts got back on the winning trail with 1-0 win away to neighbours Magherafelt Sky Blue Reserves, with Ryan Brown scoring the winner. Killymoon Rangers Reserves beat Carnmoney FC 4-3. Gareth Ramsey, Steve Donaghy and Kevin Kelly (2) scored for Killymoon and Ricky Thompson, Darren Jordan and Andy Woods scored for Carnmoney.
In Junior Two, the only league game played was between Moyola Park Olympic Carniny Amateurs II with Moyola winning 6-1, scoring four of the goals in the second half.
In Junior Three, Wakehurst Strollers and Brantwood Reserves, both undefeated with three wins from three games, met at Lamont Park, Ballymena. Brantwood led 1-0 at half time with a goal scored by Dan Rodgers, then a brace of goals scored by Jon Alexander in the second half gave the Strollers the win.
Carrick Swifts hosted neighbours Red Star and lost 7-1, with Stuart Thompson (4), Ricky Johnson, Ricky McNally and Graham Harrison scoring the Stars goals and Dave Armscoring for the Swifts.
In Junior Four, Mallusk Athletic Reserves beat Monkstown FC 2-1, with goals scored by Colin Goodman (2) for Mallusk and Mark Hughes for Monkstown. A black mark to this game was Monkstown having three men sent off and Mallusk one, which no doubt will raise questions from the League Committee. Krag Albion and Ballysillan Swifts Reserves met, with Krag winning 3-1 thanks to goals scored by Lee Lowry (2) and Dean Haggan.
In the Crawford Cup, Desertmartin had Junior Division 2 team Cookstown RBL as visitors, and came from behind to win 5-3. Robin Patton, Liam Stewart, Jason Martin and Daniel McIlhatton (2) were on the mark for the Martins, while Andrew Kelso (2) and Dean Campbell scored for the RBL. Newtowne had Sport & Leisure Swifts Reserves as visitors, and had to thank Gary Moore for a goal in each half to win the game. Castle Star and Tobermore United Reserves from Junior One met at Carrick with the Castle coming from behind to win 5-2. Goals were scored by Warren Brown (2), Darryl Duff, Dean Menelly and an own goal, with Kyle Bradley and Steven Cochrane scoring for Tobermore. Mallusk Athletic had FC Larne as visitors, and went behind to a goal scored by Richard Girvan on the eighth minute. However, they came back to score nine with Ross Middleton (4), Paul Brown, Alan McCartney, Rob Walker and Matty Fegan (2) scoring. Clough Rangers Athletic had Magherafelt Sky Blues as visitors, and the Sky Blues scored six through Ciaran Monaghan (3), Conor Rafferty, Declan O'Neil and Darren O'Neil without reply.
