Carnbane (Newry and Mourne) League round-up September 21
Jordan Davis, a young member of the youth section of Moneyslane Football Club, who not only scored a hat-trick of goals for his team in their home game against Banbridge Rangers on Saturday last, also completed a century of goals in the Carnbane (Newry and Mourne) League's Under-13 Section of the Fiveways Youth Championship.
Jordan is the first member of the youth section of the Moneyslane Club to achieve this magnificent feat and his total tally now stands at 102 goals, all of which he has scored during the past three seasons.
Moneyslane entertained Banbridge Rangers in their Fiveways Under-13 Championship game, which turned out to be a high-scoring affair with Moneyslane winning it 9-4. Their scorers were Jordan Davis (3), Marc Cochrane (2), Johnny Martin, Ethan Malcolmson, Steven Moorehead and Ethan Trimble. This was Banbridge Rangers first game in the Carnbane League and their scorers were Tom Mehaffey (2), Ross Shields and Harry Patterson.
Annalong Rovers 3, Ballybot Celtic 4
Newry Youth Football Club Ballybot Celtic's impoved form earned them the points in this cracker of a game played at Annalong in the Carnbane Fiveways Under-14 League Championship. Ballybot were narrow 4-3 winners but they had to battle every inch of the way to achieve their success.
Ballybot took an early grip on the play, and goals from Marco Gilbert and Oisin Campbell gave them the lead, but David Sloan brought Annalong back into the game with a fine goal in the 15th minute.
In the second half Brendan Devlin had Ballybot's third goal, but Nathan Mills found the target for Annalong. Oisin Mallon replied for Ballybot, but towards the end Annalong were on top and after David Sloan scored their third goal, the Ballybot defence fared extremely well to contain the home team from bagging the equalising goal.
