Championship Two round-up January 11
Round-up of action from Championship Two:
Annagh United 3 Killymoon Rangers 0
It was the second half before this fixture found its feet as both sides had just one effort apiece in the opening 45 minutes, Annaghs Adam Nesbitt going closest.
Smith’s half time team talk must have had an effect but on 47 minutes it was Killymoon who had the first chance hitting the post, that was to be the highlight as Annagh moved in front on 51 minutes thanks to Shea Campbell, who had another effort cleared off the line just three minutes later.
On the hour Stephen Acheson headed just over from five yards and when sub McCann combined with Gardiner on 65 minutes, Campbell snatched his brace. Ryan Murphy's delivery was headed just over by Campbell ten minutes later but it was to be on 80 minutes when Campbell hassled the defender into an error on the half-way line and broke free to beat the keeper and slot in from a wide angle, securing his first hat trick of 2014 and capping off an all-round solid Annagh team performance.
Portstewart 0 Lurgan Celtic 1
Celtic deserved their narrow victory, moving the ball well and creating chances.
Celtic went ahead in the 8th minute when Fitzpatrick worked his way down the left cut inside and scored with a low shot just inside the post. Just before half time Malone could have increased Celtic's lead but saw his effort cannon off the post. Forgrave headed off the line to keep the Ports in the game and Doherty squandered a great chance to level the score when he worked an opening but blazed the ball over the bar.
Madison prevented Celtic going further ahead with a point blank save and Neill did likewise when he again headed off the line near the end.
