Down Area Winter Football League round-up, November 1

It's amazing how quickly things can change in the Down Area Winter Football League. One week, a team is being touted as genuine title contenders and the next, they are sitting in mid-table wondering, "Where did it all went wrong?"

Ravenhill Young Men have spent much of the season fighting it out with Brentwood at the top of the league, but, after Saturday's 4-2 defeat at Greenwell Star, have fallen to sixth and it seems as though their dreams of a first Premier Division crown may have fallen by the wayside.

Comber Young Men climbed to third with their 7-0 victory over North Down, Corrymeela scored late to secure a 3-2 against Comber Star and Oakfield Breda handed Willowfield Parish another defeat as the sides played out a highly competitive 5-3 at Hydebank Playing Fields.

League leaders Brentwood strolled to a 6-0 victory over Abbey Villa III, whilst Moat Park Rangers defeated Vision Athletic 4-3 at Blanchflower, despite having a man sent off early in the game.

3rd Bangor OB remain top of Division One, despite their 3-3 draw with Agapé, second-placed Bangor Rangers III fell to a shock 6-0 defeat at 82nd and third-placed Queen's Graduates III failed to capitalise on the other results, as they played out a 2-2 draw with Newtown Forest.

Stranmillis 37th OB and Clandeboye YM both recorded victories, Ballygowan and Ards Rangers III's game ended 2-2 and, in the Division's remaining fixture, Bangor Swifts III notched up their first victory of the season in empathic style with a 9-1 win at Bangor YM III.

In Division 2A, Vision Athletic II were 5-3 winners in their game against 43rd OB II, Newtown Forest II defeated Comber YM II 4-3 and Ravenhill YM drew 1-1 with Greenwell Star II. Moat Park Rangers II stretched their lead at the top of the division to six points with their 1-0 victory over Corrymeela II, keeping the league's only unbeaten record intact.

Division 2B leaders Comber Star II were held to a 1-1 draw by Agapé II, Abbey Villa IV defeated Oakfield Breda II 7-1 and 8th OB II were 5-1 winners in their game against 82nd II.

Bangor Rangers IV defeated Bangor YM IV, Stranmillis 37th OB II defeated Ballygowan II and, in the weekend's remaining game, Willowfield Parish II were on the receiving end of a 14-0 hammering from Queen's Graduates IV, which, to save you working it out yourself, is a goal every six and a half minutes.
