Down Area Winter Football League round-up October 26

The DAWFL Premier Division fixtures were all rained off, bar one. Brentwood won 7-2 at home over 3rd Bangor OB. The win moves Brentwood into second place, a welcome relief for a club that is used to dominating. The loss keeps 3rd Bangor in the bottom two, having only won three points so far this season.

Brentwood moved into second, but the 8th OB in third place have a game in hand. The one to watch this weekend would have been Moat Park Rangers against the 8th. Moat Park remain unbeaten and are dominating the league, but will be feeling the pressure, with Brentwood and the 8th snapping at their heels.

Last season’s league winners Greenwell Star have slipped down to sixth place, and with Moat Park’s flawless run to date, they will have to focus on the cups if they hope to win silverware this season.

In the 1A Division, Stranmillis 37th OB lost 2-1 at home against the 43rd OB. It was the first win for the 43rd’s new manager. Stranmillis remain in the bottom two with only one win under their belt so far. Bryansburn Rangers III won 3-1 away to Queen’s Grads III. Queen’s are struggling to find consistent form and are sitting in the bottom half of the table.

Comber Rec III won 3-1 at home over Bangor Rangers III. The win keeps the Rec at the top of the table but second placed North Down are primed to knock them off the top spot. With three games in hand and having only dropped three points thus far, North Down are keeping the Rec on their toes.
