South Antrim League round-up

There was a sensation in the South Antrim League before the season even got started when Sporting Lisburn appeared to be forced out of existence, but last minute developments saw their first XI saved in the Premier Division under a new manager.

Their seconds, though, will disappear, but the League do have a replacement in Division 1.

There were only two matches in the Premier Division with newly-promoted Warren YM holding the champions Glaston, to a scoreless draw.

In the other game, Braniel YM were a goal up at half-time, but Alan Murdock and Ryan Nixon (2) gave Lambeg Rangers a 3-1 lead, before Braniel came back with two goals to equalise – the last one with just two minutes left.

In Division 1, Luke Eastwood hit a hat-trick for First Lisburn in an 8-1 win away to Belvoir II, while Stranmillis II received a walkover against Lisburn Rangers III.

Graham hit four of the goals when Cregagh Wanderers beat FC United II 8-4 in Division 2. Clonduff YM II beat Glenavy III 7-1 and Newtown Forest III and Lambeg Rangers II drew 2-2.

In the Ironside Cup, Bloomfield II reached the first round, in which there were wins for FC United Lisburn, Belvoir, Sandy Row, South Antrim Orangefield III and Warren YM II.
