Three wins will lift revamped Shield

It will take just three victories to win next season’s Paddy Power County Antrim Shield after the number of teams competing in the competition was cut in half.

The Shield, which was won last season by Crusaders, is now almost exclusively the preserve of senior clubs, with just Steel & Sons Cup holders Kilmore Rec joining top flight clubs as a reward for winning the Christmas Day final.

The other seven participants when the first round — which will be the quarter-finals — takes place on Tuesday, September 7 will be Carling Premiership clubs, with newly promoted Donegal Celtic completing the list.

Paddy Power County Antrim Shield 2010: Round One: Tuesday, September 7. Semi-Finals: Tuesday, October 26 and Wednesday, October 27. Final: Tuesday, November 30.
