Warrenpoint Town 0 - 2 Ballymena Utd: Consistency is key for Spike
Glenn Ferguson says that consistency in his team selections is beginning to pay dividends as Ballymena United racked up their third win in succession with a 2-0 victory over Warrenpoint Town.
Superb first-half goals from David Cushley and Allan Jenkins were enough to see off a hard-working 'Point side who had Shaun Parr controversially sent off before the break and 'Spike' feels that the momentum is with his side at the moment.
"It's the first time it's happened for me in almost two years," he explained.
"Between injuries, suspensions and one thing or another, we've had desperate luck. It's probably four games in a row that we've had the same starting eleven and it gives you that bit of continuity.
"They say that if it's not broken, don't fix it. At the minute, we're winning matches."
United's win saw them move two points above fierce rivals Coleraine in the table and just one behind Ballinamallard United, who they face at The Showgrounds this weekend and Ferguson feels they are on a roll after three league defeats in succession.
"I never lost confidence in them," he said. "We don't have a massive squad here and you see them in training and you see that they are a good bunch of lads and that they can play. Sometimes when you make silly mistakes you really get punished for it. We've changed a couple of slight things. We maybe go direct a bit more often than trying to play through every time and it's paying off for us. Long may it continue."
