Glenavon's McKerr joins Birmingham
Friday, 27 July 2007
Glenavon fear they may lose another of their fast rising young stars before the new season kicks off.
Right-back Michael McKerr, just turned 17, has already been snapped up by
Birmingham on a two-year contract.
The youngster joined Steve Bruce
yesterday despite last minute attempts by Rangers to lure him to Ibrox Park
following an outstanding display against their Reserve team in last
weekend's pre-season friendly.
Now the spotlight is being firmly
focussed on 17-year-old central defender Ciaran McGuigan.
Manager Colin Malone revealed: "Ciaran will be training with Motherwell for the next seven days. They are bound to like what they see because Ciaran, just like Michael, has a lot going for him. I was looking forward to seeing both of them blossom with us next season but the last thing in my mind is to stand in their way."
