Wylie in praise for Linfield’s Thompson
Tuesday, 8 July 2008
Linfield coach Alfie Wylie says Peter Thompson will continue to be a " model professional" even though his dream of playing cross-channel football remains unfulfilled.
Thompson is set to remain in Linfield colours next season after an improved bid from Kilmarnock was rejected by the club.
Wylie said: "Peter is a signed Linfield player and even though we would never hold him back in his career David (Jeffrey) is always thinking about our squad and our preparations for Europe.
"Linfield would never do anything to stop his development and Peter can improve his game at any level. When you put the effort he does in you will always be rewarded and the higher up you go the more you will learn.
"No matter what Peter does he will give you 100% — whether that's in training or in a match. You can't ask for any more from him, he's very thorough and professional and when he steps on the pitch he's the same - a model professional and example to any young lad. Like all good strikers he is not afraid to miss chances and he is determined to keep working hard, we're just delighted he's a signed Linfield player."
