Jeffrey broadens search for new Linfield frontmen
Tuesday, 8 July 2008
Linfield manager David Jeffrey confirmed last night that the club would not be offering Philip Mulryne a contract - and he insisted that the Blues will need to broaden their search for two frontmen.
The Gibson Cup holders need fresh firepower as only youngster Mark Miskimmon, Peter Thompson and Glenn Ferguson are available to Jeffrey as attacking options.
John Martin, who agreed a one-year deal with the Blues, can also play up front although he may perform a wide role for the club.
Jeffrey admitted the best local talent "is not available" and he will have to extend his search to down south and across the water.
He said: "Philip was excellent in training and his attitude was first class. He showed why he has nearly 30 caps for Northern Ireland."
