Belfast Telegraph Championship Player of the Month - February

After a quiet December and January the Belfast Telegraph Championship picked up the pace in February as we start to look towards the business end of the season.

It's been a month of ups and downs, with both Ards and Warrenpoint Town losing games, while Institute, Dundela and Carrick Rangers continue apply pressure at the top of the table. At the bottom of the Championship One table Bangor appear to be running out of time in their fight to avoid the drop.

While there were many players who excelled in February we've been forced to pick out just five for our Player of the Month Poll. You can vote for your favourite by clicking on the player's name below and sending us an email. The poll closes on Friday at midday with the winner announced in next week's edition of The Park.

Jason Blackburn – Limavady United

Limavady United have had an up and down season but in recent weeks they have recorded some positive results including progressing to the semi-finals of the Coca-Cola Intermediate Cup.

In the league they drew 3-3 away to Coagh United before beating Bangor 3-1 at The Limavady Showgrounds on Saturday. Jason Blackburn notched an important goal in both games.

Paul Dickson – Harland & Wolff Welders

Former Ards midfielder Paul Dickson returned to Tillysburn in January where he has re-established himself as a first team players.

Dickson helped Harland & Wolff Welders towards a 1-1 draw against Warrenpoint Town earlier in the month before scoring twice on Saturday to give his side a 2-1 win over Larne at Inver Park.

Stephen Hughes – Warrenpoint Town

Warrenpoint Town's unbeaten run may have been brought to an end by Carrick Rangers on Saturday but Town have still performed well in February, with the likes of goalkeeper Johnny Parr and defender John Boyle impressing, but the pick of the bunch has to be forward Stephen Hughes.

Hughes scored three goals in the month, hitting the target against Larne, Harland & Wolff Welders and Ards.

Nathan McConnell – Carrick Rangers

Big striker Nathan McConnell has found his goalscoring boots again since he moved from Harland & Wolff Welders to Carrick Rangers in January.

The former Cliftonville forward scored twice in Carrick's 3-2 win over Coagh United at Hagan Park before netting a late winner for Rangers at Taylor's Avenue in Saturday's impressive 2-1 win over Warrenpoint Town. This is McConnell's second spell at Carrick

Michael McCrudden - Institute

Institute's Michael McCrudden has established himself as one of the Belfast Telegraph Championship's most exciting prospects this season.

The former Derry City forward has already won this award this season and could lift it again thanks to his impressive hat-trick against Colin Malone's Loughgall at Lakeview earlier in the month.
