Cheers to a new junior football site

Junior football fans will soon have a new place to get together and discuss the latest in the grassroots game, the Belfast Telegraph can reveal.

From Monday, Tonthepitch.com will give everyone involved in amateur football a place to call their own. Designed and monitored by a team of experts, the exciting new site will allow every player in Northern Ireland and their club an opportunity to have their own website, free of charge.

As the site grows it will provide a handy resource for clubs to keep in touch with each other and for players have their say on the weekend action. Users can log on at any time to organise a friendly with a local rival, talk tactics, or review their team’s performance.

The Belfast Telegraph’s leading junior football supplement The Park teamed up with website hosts Tennent’s Lager and IFA President Jim Shaw to launch the event at Belfast’s Crown Bar yesterday.

The drinks company are also launching a major 6-a-side tournament with heats across Northern Ireland in the coming months, with cash prizes up for grabs.

The inaugural Tennent’s Sixes will launch at Stormont Playball on January 30, with a further six heats before the final on May 28 — and organisers expect the response to be huge.

See Monday’s edition of The Park, and log onto www.Tonthepitch.com from Monday for more details.
