Gary Hamilton has told his Glenavon players that losing games in no laughing matter.

The Lurgan Blues were left red faced by Crusaders last weekend, when the north-Belfast side dumped them out of the Irish Cup.

Hamilton is now calling on his men to use that humiliation as motivation for revenge when the teams meet at Seaview today in the Carling Premiership.

“It was so easy they were laughing at us. It was embarrassing and no professional likes to be laughed at,” said Hamilton.

“When they scored their fourth goal their players were laughing so maybe my boys will keep that in mind.”

Hamilton warned, however: “We’ll have to do everything we didn’t do in the Cup tie, but that we did do the night we beat them 3-2 in the league at our place.

“We need to turn defenders and make them feel uncomfortable so that means playing down the channels.

“That’s what they were told to do in the Cup match, but didn’t.

“The Cup tie was a huge disappointment. We were rubbish. Against good players you need to close them down and work harder than them.”

Meanwhile Glenavon have announced that they will re-open the Cresent Stand to spectators for their next home match, after closing it just a couple of weeks ago.

A club statement said: “On the basis that no significant problems or safety issues arise out of the re-opening of the Crescent Stand for the Ballymena United game, it will remain open for the remainder of this season.”
