Crusaders have confirmed they have suspended striker David Rainey.
The Carling Premiership’s leading goalscorer didn’t feature in the 4-1 defeat at Coleraine on Tuesday night due to a breach of discipline.
It is understood that manager Stephen Baxter was unhappy with comments made by Rainey at half-time during the 2-0 defeat to Ballymena United on Saturday.
Crues chairman Stephen Bell said: “It is an internal disciplinary matter which is being dealt with.
“I think everyone at the club feels under pressure to win matches.”
Baxter may hold further talks with Rainey at training tonight.
