Derry confident on Kenny

Derry City chairman Pat McDaid said today he was "reasonably confident" they would appoint Stephen Kenny as manager in the very near future.

"Obviously the concern for us at the moment is that we do not have a manager," he said.

"Stephen Kenny is the only name people are talking about."

He was less bullish about the situation than he was earlier in the week when he said: "Stephen Kenny was our one and only target and I am delighted that he has agreed to return."

Kenny has yet to sign a deal and since McDaid's statement Bohemians, the Dubliner's former club, have sacked Belfast man Sean Connor.

Kenny, though, parted company with the Gypsies on very bad terms, sacked less than a year after taking them to the league title before coming to Derry.

Another ex-Derry manager, Pat Fenlon, is favourite for that job.
