Jim Ervin last night revealed that well wishers from across the Irish League have contacted him in the wake of sustaining a serious knee injury that will keep him out for the next 12-months.
The Linfield full-back was told by a specialist on Monday that both the medial ligament and cruciate ligament in his left knee were ruptured as he made a tackle on Glentoran's Sean Ward during Saturday's Big Two game at Windsor Park.
Now he faces missing all of next season while recovering from two operations.
"I am gutted, but just have to focus now on working my way back to fitness," said Ervin.
"I have had calls from team-mates, management and backroom staff wishing me well which, of course, I appreciate.
"Sean Ward, Gary Hamilton, Jason Hill and staff from Glentoran have also called me as well as players from other Irish League clubs and that has helped lift me."
