Foyle Cup: Seven-up Celtic help put the Scots on top

The Scottish contingent continues to dominate the under-14 competition at the Foyle Cup as it reached the knockout stages.

Celtic, Hearts and Aberdeen all registered their third consecutive wins to make sure of their places in the quarter-finals yesterday.

The Hoops will take on Donegal Schoolboys who saw off Armagh City; Aberdeen face NW Coleraine.

Linfield strolled through to the last eight with a 6-0 win and will now take on Hearts. The other quarter-final is an all-Irish affair between St Oliver Plunkett and Bertie Peacock Youth League.

In the under-16 competition reigning champions NECSL lost out to Canadian side ANB Soccer, but the North Americans still failed to make the last eight.

QPR, last year’s beaten finalists, are through and will take on Dublin side Ballybrack. Derry & District Youth take on Waterford Schools while St Kevin’s Boys face Limerick Desmonds. In the last tie Institute will play Donegal Schoolboys.

Derry City have made it through to the under-19 Foyle Cup final and will take on Bonagee United.
