Glentoran's fan power vital in title run-in

Glentoran boss Alan McDonald is hoping Glenmen continue to get behind their team this week as the race for the JJB Sports Premiership enters its final stages.

The Glens could win the league this week should they win at Coleraine and Linfield slip up at home to Lisburn Distillery.

And while no-one in east Belfast is thinking that far ahead, McDonald believes the fans will play their part in the run-in.

“The fans were magnificent (on Saturday) and really spurred them on and it does make a big difference,” he said.

“I can't overstate that – it really does help when the fans get behind the players. It gives them confidence and brings that extra couple of per cent out of them.”

McDonald should have a full squad to pick from on Saturday with Andy Waterworth nearing full fitness.
