Institute in fighting mood

Institute manager John Gregg is expecting a strong response from his players when they entertain Glenavon tomorrow.

The Londonderry men have suffered three straight defeats and their boss knows any more slip-ups could see bottom club Lisburn Distillery leapfrog over them.

“I felt terrible on Saturday and Sunday because that display against Distillery isn’t what I try to instill in a team and it was way off from what I want us to be like, so it’s important that we get a response,” said Gregg.

“Unfortunately we didn’t get that response against Crusaders in midweek but we have another massive game against Glenavon.

“But every match for us is massive and now we have seven massive cup finals as far as I’m concerned. We could maybe crawl underneath a rock and hide after our last few results, or do you want to do something about it, I chose the want to do something about it and that’s what we’ll be trying to do this weekend.”

Marty Quinn’s side lost 3-1 to Dungannon Swifts last weekend but the ’Stute chief believes that defeat will only make life difficult for his team.

“If you look at Glenavon’s squad I think the wages of (Trevor) Molloy and (Tony) Grant would probably pay the entire first team squad here, but we don’t judge our team on their wage packets, we judge them on commitment,” added Gregg. “We know Glenavon will be tough opponents but no-one can name to me any easy game in this division.”
