The sub zero temperatures which have lingered across Britain have virtually wiped out local sporting fixtures this weekend.
And, not surprisingly, football pitches up and down the country have a frozen look to them.
The Irish FA confirmed yesterday that all Carling Premiership matches scheduled for tomorrow were postponed — apart from Crusaders’ home game with Ballymena United on their all weather surface.
The Dungannon Swifts v Coleraine, Linfield v Glenavon, Lisburn Distillery v Newry City and Portadown v Institute games have now been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 23.
The Ladbrokes.com Championship 2 fixtures have also been hit.
PSNI v Moyola Park, Knockbreda v Annagh United and H&W Welders v Killymoon Rangers are all off.
But the big clubs are getting increasingly concerned about the big freeze with the Premiership season now 24 games behind schedule.
If there are any more postponements beyond this weekend, fixture planners will have to give serious thought to extending the season.
