McDonald goes back to basics to stop Glentoran rot
Monday, 10 November 2008
Glentoran boss Alan McDonald says his side must bounce back, and quickly, after suffering their third defeat in a week on Saturday.
The lacklustre Glens were hammered, 3-0, by table-toppers Crusaders at Seaview at the weekend, following on from a Co-operative Insurance Cup loss to Ballymena United in midweek and last Saturday’s Setanta Sports Cup final defeat by Cork City. Now he expects the title challengers to raise their game again and avoid a massive slump in their JJB Sports Premiership ambitions.
“We can’t feel sorry for ourselves,” he said. “We’re back in (tonight) and we start again. We need to put things right.
“We’ll go back to basics and put in good work on the training pitch before our next game against Cliftonville.”
Meanwhile, the Sky cameras move on to Ballymena tonight as the Braidmen take on Newry City at the Showgrounds (7.45).
In the Bob Radcliffe Cup semi-final, Killymoon Rangers and Seapatrick battle it out at Lakeview Park (7.30).
