Newry and Cliftonville set for first Sunday game

Newry City and Cliftonville will play in the first Carling Premiership game to be scheduled for a Sunday.

Last season Glentoran played Bangor in what was a historic Sunday fixture — officially the first ever in Northern Ireland — but that was hastily rearranged after being postponed the day before.

Now City and the Reds will meet on Sunday September 6, a day after originally planned, (2pm kick-off) with the hope of Sky TV coverage.

Meanwhile Crusaders home match against Ballymena United on Saturday October 24 has been moved to the Ballymena Showgrounds as the Crues new synthetic pitch at Seaview is laid.

The Sky Blues will now visit the Shore Road on Saturday January 9 instead.
