Quinn lays down challenge to Glenavon players

Marty Quinn

Marty Quinn is challenging his Glenavon players to show what they are capable of tonight after failing to win since August.

Top of the table after three games, the Lurgan Blues are now in the bottom half and, depending on results, could be as low as tenth if they lose at home to Cliftonville.

“There’s a lot of work to be done and players have to stand up and be counted and hopefully they can give us a performance against Cliftonville,” said Quinn.

Elsewhere tonight, Crusaders will look to capitalise if Glentoran slip up at home to Portadown, knowing a win at Newry City could take them to the top, while Ballymena United face Lisburn Distillery.

Meanwhile, Ronnie McFall has named six Linfield players in his Northern Ireland Under-23 squad for their International Challenge Trophy game in Portugal next Tuesday. A win would see McFall’s men reach the semi-finals.

NORTHERN IRELAND UNDER-23 SQUAD: Chris Keenan (Crusaders), Sean O’Neill (Dungannon Swifts), Chris Ramsey (Portadown), Billy Joe Burns (Linfield), Johnny Taylor (Glentoran), Jay Magee (Glenavon), Ross Redman (Portadown), Aaron Stewart (Ballymena United), Philip Lowry (Linfield) Robert Garrett (Linfield), Jamie Mulgrew (Linfield), Stuart Dallas (Crusaders), Martin Donnelly (Crusaders), Michael Carvill (Linfield), Daryl Fordyce (Glentoran), Curtis Allen (Linfield), Jordan Owens (Crusaders), Darren Boyce (Coleraine).
