West Belfast provided the setting for last night's north Belfast derby as Cliftonville began their tenure at Donegal Celtic Park with a comfortable 3-0 win against Interim League outfit Brantwood. Eddie Patterson went with the same 11 which started against Linfield on Saturday and stand-in captain Chris Scannell could have had a hat-trick inside 15 minutes.

Neat link up play from Aaron Smyth and Ryan Catney provided Scannell with a gilt-edged opportunity on 11 minutes, but James Haugh saved with his feet before claiming a headed effort from the same player on 13 minutes.

Thirty seconds later Scannell once again shot straight at Haugh before the Brantwood keeper saved from Kieran O'Connor.

The breakthrough came nine minutes before the interval as this time Scannell made no mistake when clean through.

Following a brief hold-up caused by a hole in the net Rory Hamill bagged his first goal for his new club when he latched on to Scannell's pass to power home.

Scannell wrapped things up just past the hour when he converted after two Ciaran Boyd attempts had been charged down.

Goalkeeper Haugh was the only thing that stopped Brantwood taking a real pasting as he time and again thwarted the Reds.

Cliftonville now await the winner of tonight's clash between Bangor and Donegal Celtic in the quarter-finals.
