Chris Scannell has netted the Ulster Footballer of the Year Award for the 2008-2009 season.
An independent panel has concluded that the Reds striker should succeed Linfield goalkeeper Alan Mannus as the recipient of the special award, sponsored by Castlereagh Glentoran Supporters’ Club.
Scannell will receive the prestigious award before tomorrow’s Irish Cup final against Crusaders.
The Solitude hotshot finished top goalscorer at the end of the league campaign and will be hoping to add to his tally of 25 at Windsor Park against the Crues.
