Championship: Around the grounds

Bangor postponed their match against Coagh United on Saturday following the death of Lesley Scates, the wife of manager Garth Scates.

Chairman Trevor Best said: “Lesley had been involved in a tragic road accident just outside Comber last Wednesday evening and had been on a life support machine in the Royal Victoria Hospital since then. Sadly, she never regained consciousness.

“The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Bangor Football Club are with Garth and the Scates family circle at this very sad time.

“The funeral service will take place in Comber at 11am on Monday morning. As a mark of respect, the Bangor v Coagh United game scheduled for Saturday has been postponed.”

Limavady United have appointed former player Neil Mullan as manager. Mullan will replace Timmy Dixon in the hot seat, while last season's manager Aidy McLaughlin will return to the club as first team coach. Mullan joins from local amateur side Newtowne.

Carrick Rangers' Taylor's Avenue ground is currently closed for renovation. Saturday's game against Dergview was switched to Castlederg, while this Saturday's game between Carrick and Kncokbreda at Taylor's Avenue has been postponed.

Institute will play local amateur rivals Newbuildings in the final of the North West Cup, after Paul Kee's men beat Coleraine in the semi-final. The final is set for the Riverside Ground on Tuesday night at 7.45pm.
