Six of the boss

James McGrath, Lisbellaw United
James McGrath, Lisbellaw United

James McGrath, Lisbellaw United

Nickname?

I get James at home, but Jimmy everywhere else.

Biggest triumph?

It’s hard to pick one. I won the Junior Cup with Lisbellaw in 1978, managed them to the final in 1997 and won the Fermanagh & Western Division 1 title with them three years in a row (2010, 11 and 12).

Worst beating?

Our 1-0 Junior Cup semi-final defeat by Immaculata in 2008. We were the better team, but look at what they have achieved since.

Best junior player ever?

Our captain Kyle McCreery, for his sheer commitment and workrate.

Best one-liner heard at a match?

“If that shot was any wider it would have been in the next town.” One of mine!

Favourite motto?

Never give up.
