Six of the boss

John Beattie, Ardglass

John Beattie, Ardglass

Nickname?

Feet. It’s a long story...

Biggest triumph?

Getting our intermediate status in the Amateur League. It took a lot of work, and I should know... I was on the committee at the time.

Worst beating?

Losing 3-1 to Maghera in the cup final,  back in our days in the Newcastle League. We usually beat them in the league, so it was hard to take.

Best junior player ever?

It would be a tough choice between Shamey Sheridan - a fantastic midfielder, Marty Ross and Stephen Galbraith - two outstanding strikers.

Best one-liner heard at a match?

I can’t actually think of anything for this! Sorry.

Favourite motto?

Play for the shirt.
