We're going for win: McFall

Ronnie McFall is warning Newry City that they face a fight in their bid to qualify for the quarter-finals of the CIS Insurance Cup as Group D winners.

McFall's Portadown side are locked on 13 points with the border club with both teams winning all four outings since they last met on the opening day of the campaign.

The Ports travel to Newry tomorrow for the final round of group games with the reward for the winners being a home tie in the last eight against Crusaders.

"We'll be going for the win, there is no doubt about that," said McFall.

"We aren't thinking about the league starting next Saturday, our focus is on trying to get top spot in the group and a home match in the knockout stages of the CIS Cup."

The alternative is an away trip to Cliftonville and although McFall wants to be at home, he doesn't see Crusaders as being any easier an opponent.

"There's nothing really between the teams and the only advantage is playing on your home ground," said McFall.

Ports captain John Convery may make a return to the squad tomorrow. He has played two reserve games in his comeback from an Achilles injury sustained in February.
