Mark Warburton delighted to commit his future with new Rangers deal
Rangers manager Mark Warburton has signed a contract extension that commits him to Ibrox until the summer of 2019. Both Warburton and assistant David Weir have signed significantly improved three-year deals which replace their current contracts, which had two years left to run.
Warburton said: "It really is a huge honour and privilege to be manager of Rangers and I am thrilled to agree a new contract."
Warburton made a major impact after moving from Brentford last summer, clinching a Ladbrokes Championship and Petrofac Cup double as well as guiding Rangers to a Scottish Cup semi-final win over Celtic.
Warburton added: "This is a special club with passionate fans and we'll continue to work hard. Our debut campaign was positive but we're working to deliver continued success. Competing at the highest level is the least our fans deserve and we look forward to playing at a packed Ibrox.
"I thank the Rangers board for again backing my player acquisition plan and we are all eagerly anticipating the start of 2016-17."
Warburton wants to add two more players ahead of the Betfred Cup opener against Motherwell on Saturday having made eight signings this summer.
