Adam Lecky has Ballinamallard United on the up at long last
Glenavon 0 Ballinamallard United 1
Last-gasp penalty hero Adam Lecky dedicated his winning goal to manager Gavin Dykes as Ballinamallard United notched up their first league win of the season at Glenavon's expense.
Brought crashing down in the box by Simon Kelly three minutes into added time, he brushed off his wounds and kept his nerve to lash the penalty home.
Glenavon had only themselves to blame. They rarely threatened and even throwing on big guns like Kevin Braniff and Paddy McCourt didn't work with the former Celtic man missing a spot kick of his own.
The Mallards dug in and when they got their chance, Lecky took it with aplomb.
"It's a great feeling because it was starting to get a bit repetitive and boring getting beaten every week but hopefully that's the monkey off the back now," he said.
"I didn't realise it was that late, some of their players were telling me it was the last kick to put pressure on me and, to be honest, I was half limping too, but I was just glad to see it go in the back of the net. I'm delighted for Gavin to get that, he's come in and all the players are enjoying working with him."
Home boss Gray Hamilton said: "I thought we were really poor from start to finish and I'm not saying the boys didn't try because they're not that type of lads, but their energy and enthusiasm wasn't there and to be totally honest with you I sort of smelt it in the changing room before the game."
