Early warning: David Jeffrey

David Jeffrey has warned the Danske Bank Premiership's new glamour signings that Irish League football will not be a stroll in the park.

Fans will get a first glimpse of Nacho Novo in a Glentoran jersey today while Paddy McCourt is shining for Glenavon and Linfield boss David Healy has brought Roy Carroll and Sammy Clingan to Windsor Park.

"You can't deny the reputation and quality of the experienced players who have come to our league and it's great for the locally-based players as they will be inspired and raise their game," said the Ballymena United boss.

"But anyone playing against Nacho Novo will not be playing against Nacho Novo the Glentoran striker. They will be playing against Nacho Novo the former Rangers star while Roy Carroll is a Northern Ireland legend, a Premier League title winner with Manchester United.

"I said to Keith Gillespie that he was a hero to many. He was never going to be viewed by opponents as just another run of the mill winger."
