We will lose fans over Cup final call: DJ
David Jeffrey says he fears the Irish League has missed the opportunity to attract new fans after the decision to raise ticket prices for next month's Tennent's Irish Cup Final.
Adult tickets for the clash between Linfield and Coleraine at Windsor Park on Saturday, May 6 have gone up from £15 to £20 and the move by the Challenge Cup Committee of the Irish FA has been widely slammed by supporters.
Ballymena United boss Jeffrey said: "It's a £5 increase which will have an impact on the casual fan or families and don't we want to see families come to the matches? I think the decision to increase the ticket price was wrong and a missed opportunity."
Meanwhile, Portadown will live to fight another day in the Premiership after overcoming Ballinamallard United 1-0 last night but their relegation to the Championship will be confirmed today if Carrick Rangers defeat Ards.
