Cliftonville boss hails IFA for quickly hitting Oman with ban
Cliftonville manager Gerard Lyttle has praised Irish FA disciplinary chiefs for acting swiftly and hitting Portadown defender Ken Oman with a six match ban.
Oman elbowed the Reds' Caoimhin Bonner in Saturday's Premiership fixture and referee Evan Boyce, who didn't see the incident during the game, notified the Irish FA Disciplinary Committee who studied video footage and dished out the punishment. "I've got to applaud the IFA for acting swiftly and I think it's brilliant," said Lyttle.
"It augurs well for the Irish League when such action is taken quickly. Caoimhin is not in good shape, he can't eat properly and is in pain. I'm going to lose a player for a few weeks at least but hopefully he can recover well. He's a warrior and won't be out for long."
Portadown were also fined £100 by the Committee.
