Cliftonville sign teenager Peter Burke to keep Conor Devlin on his toes
Cliftonville boss Tommy Breslin has netted 19-year-old goalkeeper Peter Burke.
The Donegal keeper, who was on Sunderland's books, has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-17 and Under-19 level.
The 19-year-old impressed in five pre-season matches for the Reds and will compete with Conor Devlin for the number one jersey at Solitude.
Breslin's side begin their Premiership campaign against Glenavon on August 8.
Meanwhile, centre-back Emmet Friars has left Crusaders and joined Ballinamallard United in a loan deal until the end of January.
The 29-year-old also played for Newry City, Dungannon Swifts, Portadown and Derry City.
Ballymena United could be without skipper Allan Jenkins for their Danske Bank Premiership opener against Linfield at Windsor Park on Saturday week.
Jenkins sustained ankle ligament damage in a recent friendly game against Ballyclare Comrades.
United are also waiting to hear if defender Johnny Taylor will be handed a six-game ban following an alleged headbutt in the clash with Comrades.
The referee is likely to report the controversial bust-up to the Irish FA.
