Coleraine 2 Dungannon Swifts 1

Coleraine boss David Platt is facing a mounting injury crisis.

Midfielder John Watt took an elbow in the face in Saturday’s victory over Dungannon Swifts and is nursing an eye injury.

Centre back Paddy McLaughlin is struggling with a hip complaint and defender Matt Crossan has a leg gash.

Added to that, influential winger Stephen Carson again sat out the weekend action. The Northern Ireland international is unlikely to be risked against the Crues as he battles back from tendonitis.

Platt said: “Stephen has missed a few games and we thought he might be ready to face the Swifts but he had a reaction in training.

“All we can so is monitor the situation. He is a big loss but you cannot rush these things.”

Platt was pleased with the way his team came back after losing an early second half lead.

“We demonstrated true grit and character. That impressed me.

“I am happy that we got the result we deserved for a spirited display against a quality team.

“Now we have to push on and move back up the league table.”

After missing first half chances Coleraine went in front through Gareth Harkin in the 52nd minute.

Swifts midfielder Neil McCafferty beat keeper Davy O’Hare from 30 yards out just before the hour — his seventh goal of the campaign — but Coleraine substitute Tommy McCallion provided the pass for striker Rory Patterson to steer the ball past Rouse eight minutes from the end.

Patterson’s winner, his seventh league goal of the season, took his total to 10 overall.
