Coleraine snap up Leon Knight
Coleraine manager David Platt last night clinched the signing of a striker that he has been chasing for over a month.
The Bannsiders boss thought that he’d lost out on former Chelsea trainee Leon Knight, but a move to Darlington collapsed last month after his previous club Rushden claimed money was outstanding and that has worked in Coleraine’s favour.
The London-born 28-year-old yesterday put pen to paper on a deal that will see him play in the Carling Premiership until the end of the season and Platt will expect him to deliver goals.
Coleraine is Knight’s 14th club after playing in every English division outside of the Premier League, the Scottish Premier League and First Division and in Greece during the last decade.
International clearance has yet to be secured, but the Bannsiders are hopeful that everything will be in place for Knight to make his debut at Glenavon on Saturday.
The Lurgan Blues will be without Trevor Molloy, who starts a two-match suspension.
