Oran shuffles pack to no avail as Bannsiders lose out again
Glenavon 1 Coleraine 0
Oran Kearney insists his role as Tinkerman is merely temporary and that normal service will be resumed when his Coleraine side lock horns with derby foes Ballymena United in tomorrow night's League Cup semi-final.
For the second game on the trot, the Bannsiders boss made several changes to his starting line-up and, just as last week against Cliftonville, his altered panel lost out at Glenavon.
Rhys Marshall bagged the only goal but, in truth, it should have been much more yet, perversely, had James McLaughlin made the most of his two great chances at the other end, Kearney's high risk strategy would have paid off.
So is he the Tinkerman? The man himself had an answer worthy of Claudio Ranieri.
"Absolutely not, but for the last two games, yes," he admitted
"We had three guys who, if they picked up a yellow card against Cliftonville last Friday night, would have missed the (Ballymena) game and we had a couple today who have played every game this season and in energetic roles as well.
"Sometimes when you pull them back from it and give them that little bit of rest hopefully it brings the right response on Tuesday."
Opposite number Gary Hamilton reflected: "I think their goalkeeper had a lot more to do and we missed a lot more chances than them. We've been like that quite a bit this season.
"But to be fair we came out and scored a goal early and could have had a couple more."
