Time for Bannsiders 'to kick-start season with victory'

By David Mason

Coleraine's Davy Kee believes his team can kick-start their season against struggling Carrick Rangers at the Showgrounds tomorrow. Oran Kearney's Bannsiders haven't tasted victory since a November 19 home win against Ballinamallard United. Indeed, they have picked up only one point since then - against Ards.

Although they still sit in the Danske Premiership's top six, Kee admits they now have a chance of turning the tide, starting by avenging the loss at Carrick five weeks ago.

"Basically, we are struggling to put the ball in the net," said Kee, who is on a season-long loan deal from Linfield. "We've scored only one in our last six games and that's not good enough.

"We are strong all over the park, but our failing is in front of goal.

"I'm not blaming the boys up front. Goals should come from anywhere in the pitch, so it's a collective problem.

"It's only the turn of the year. We need to kick-start our season. We need to start pushing on, starting with a win over Carrick on Saturday."

Kee insists now is not the time to start licking wounds, adding: "There is no point in dwelling on what might have been or feeling sorry for ourselves. We have to put that disappointing run behind us if we want to maintain our place in the top six."
