Crusaders v Glenavon: Goals set to Rain in, says Owens

Jordan Owens has warned Glenavon that David Rainey is about to go goal crazy after shooting down Ballymena United on Tuesday night.
Rainey netted his first goal of the season in the 1-0 County Antrim Shield triumph at the Showgrounds and he will be aiming to pass the 20 mark this campaign after finishing just one short of that tally last season.
High flying Glenavon are up next for Crusaders at Seaview tomorrow and Owens believes the former Glentoran hitman is in the mood to hurt opponents.
“I travelled back from Ballymena with Davy and he was buzzing,” said Owens.
“When he’s scoring he’s happy and long may it continue. It’s great to see him get off the mark and we all know he is capable of scoring at least 20 goals a season.
“I think people underestimate Davy and the threat he poses. He’s a quality finisher and I have learned so much from playing alongside him over the last few years. He’s a goal machine and you just feel that if he gets one then the goals will start flowing.”
Owens is committed to the Crues cause now that cross-channel interest from Doncaster Rovers and Tranmere Rovers failed to result in a move.
“It was disappointing that nothing came of it, but it is nice to know I am doing something right,” he added. “I have to keep my head down and work hard.”
