Crues caught in a fix over Cup reprieve

Crusaders' IRN-BRU Cup dream has been resurrected but boss Stephen Baxter fears a hectic fixture schedule could damage his side's hopes of securing silverware.

The Crues face a rematch with Livingston at Seaview next Tuesday night after the Scottish side admitted fielding an ineligible player in their 2-1 victory earlier this month.

Alan Lithgow should have been suspended and the club have also been fined £4,000.

With Baxter's side taking on Glentoran in the County Antrim Shield at The Oval tonight (7.45pm) ahead of Saturday's Premiership showdown with Linfield, the three huge scraps in seven days will test the depth of Crusaders' squad.

"It's another game we could do without because there is always the possibility of us sustaining more injuries, like we did in the first game," said Baxter.

"It has come at an important period of the season for us and after the Glens game we have a massive match against Linfield to focus on this weekend."
