Cushley deal highlights Crues' rise
We saw some extraordinary pictures of David Cushley in a Crusaders shirt last week and that was wrong. That should not have happened and the Crues were right to apologise.
I think there was a temptation for the club to rub Linfield's noses in it a little as it was quite a transfer coup.
I'm not really interested in the finances behind the deal but David clearly feels he would have a better chance of winning medals with the Crues than Linfield and that's something that I could never have seen happening in my day as a player.
David has agreed to join the Crues from Ballymena United next season and you just wonder how he will get into the team on a regular basis given the abundance of attacking riches boss Stephen Baxter has.
He's a smashing player but inconsistency has been a feature of his career. Yet his arrival at Seaview still sends a powerful message to the rest of the Irish League - you have a Northern Ireland legend in charge of a club Linfield's size, now based at a new impressive stadium, and still a player would rather join Crusaders. That's a tribute to Baxter's men's progress.
