David Healy: It’s snow joke when games are called off

We all love a bit of snow and I know my kids have enjoyed playing in the garden but it’s getting beyond a joke now.

I’ve never known a time when so many games have been called off, especially high profile ones.

At a time when I want to be training every day and hopefully playing on a Saturday, I spend most of my time, like many of you I’m sure, scraping snow or ice off my car.

We can’t train properly either because of the snow and I’m now more familiar with the gym than I ever have been.

Training indoors is an option but it’s just not the same though it is probably as good as it is going to get for a while.

I know Crusaders are the only club getting games on back home and I’m sure that is going to be a nightmare for clubs trying to fit in the backlog of fixtures.

But I’m sure there are a few who are quietly happy some of the games were called off.

Linfield will enjoy having Peter Thompson back and ready for action when the weather improves while Manchester United would have been under-strength against Manchester City in the Carling Cup semi-final which was postponed.

The snow may have caused havoc with football but there can be the odd positive note to come from it.
