David Healy: Manchester City blew their big chance

Published 07/05/2010

When you have a big game, you need your big players to stand up and be counted.

Unfortunately for Manchester City on Wednesday night that did not happen.

With home advantage and needing a win to take them towards Champions League football they quite simply didn’t perform.

In contrast I thought Tottenham were excellent as they won 1-0 at Eastlands to clinch the coveted top four place in the Premier League.

Harry Redknapp should be commended for putting out such an attacked minded team on a night in which he only needed a draw.

He certainly got his reward. It’s a great achievement for Harry, who once again has proved what a top manager he is. While he looks forward, City must reflect on where it all went wrong. Basically they blew it.
