Crusaders starlet Gavin Whyte will have an opportunity to secure a dream cross-channel move when he goes on trial at Everton next week.

Coaches at the Premier League side want a closer look at the gifted teenager from the Markets who has lit up the Danske Bank Premiership this season.

Whyte, who has just pocketed the BT Sport Young Player of the Year award, is hoping to land a move to full-time football and this trip to Merseyside could book his ticket to the big time.

Stoke City expressed an interest in bringing Whyte to the club in January for a trial but Crues boss Stephen Baxter said he would slam the brakes on any of his players going on trial during the season.

But Everton clearly believe that Whyte has the potential to play at a higher level.
